I play a Meinl Weston 32 as my "small" tuba and backup tuba (occasionally using it in a large group). All of the 32's that I have played have good intonation and a very nice sound. I feel that these are excellent all around 4/4 tubas, and are some of the easiest tubas to play (my opinion). Winton commented on the low range "stuffiness" and when I first got my 32 I would have agreed. I have found that by playing with a slower and more gentle airstream that the low range opened up and is quite good (OK, I admit that I should have listened to my tuba teacher more carefully). In summary: the assets include sound, intonation, versility and response (I like mine very much).

good luck,
