A sad recluse, I see. I take offense to the sayings about "young whelps" and impoliteness. Drag yourself out of the ostrich hole, monsieur. If the band movement is declining, why has our band gone to state for the past 14 years? Why do you think that all parents buy their HS tuba players new horns, costing unreasonable amounts of money? They do not. I actually consider Rick's Holton and York Master horns more desirable than my 187, regardless of price. My parents are not in hock because they bought me a better horn than the self-destructing 20J's my district uses. I will admit to improvising bass lines, but of the jazz variety. And we all must make a slightly flatulent sound to play. Don't get stuck in the 1950s because you don't like what you see. Kindly update your views.
