I also agree that the Miraphone C4 would work well. When I first bought my 186, I also used a conn helleberg. The biggest problem with the mouthpiece is the upper range is difficult to get out cleanly on the helleberg, but the C4 cleaned it up. It's probably bright enough for you.
I've swiched since then to a special order marcinkewicz that darkened it up some, I use my F mainly for quintet.
