I haven't tried to carry a horn on America Worst but I have the "privilege" of going to Tucson often on business. I second what you've said, particularly about the Tucson - Phoenix segment. My clients are from Japan and they've all learned to leave Tucson the night before and stay over near whichever airport their Tokyo connection is out of. You just can't depend on the connections through Phoenix.
Although you never know. One time, my AW flight out of Tucson was so late that they just forgot about stopping in Phoenix and went to San Jose instead.
