Something like this bike lock (available in either 4' long or 6' long - and in various gauges - by Kryptonite (many, many other brands) can be looped through the handle and around the case, effectively keeping out mouthpiece pilferers, etc. and (better than a case latch lock) this can also be wrapped around a permanent fixture (along with the case), making it much more difficult for someone who might actually be considering taking the entire instrument. This device, of course, could be stored inside the case when no security is called for.
