If anyone wants to try the same experiment with a bare metal tuba, just cook up some unflavored gelatine and paint it on the bell of your tuba and let it dry. A good approximation of thick lacquer--and it comes off with water, no harm done.

Somehow, it's hard for me to think of a tuba as a percussion instrument. A piano, okay, but not a tuba.

As for me, heck, I can't even tell when I've shoved a folder of music down the bell of my horn (as in "What the heck is that buzzing noise?").
