Aha! That's what the veggie lube thing is all about! Try scrubbing with a shotgun bore-cleaning brush--it's got bronze bristles and might take a little more of the gunk out of the tubes. It doesn't hurt the brass, BTW. Some choke cleaner might help too--after all, it gets rid of the plastic bits as well as powder.
If you decide that the tuba-bariphone MPC isn't your cup of tea, I'd like to give it a try on my 0.495 bore Eb upright cimbasso.
What I've heard about these peashooters, though, is that they're best played mf at the loudest.
