I find that if i have an audition/rehearsal/concert etc. in the afternoon or evening and warm up in the morning that my chops feel better when i play later on. This may seem obvious to some, but it wasnt to me- until someone told me.

I just do my long tones, lip slurs, scales and warm up slowly for about 30-40 minutes, taking plenty of time to rest in between. Then when i go to warm up/play later on, my sound, flexibility and general feel of the mouthpiece on the lips is better than if i did all of my warming up before my audition.
