Too bad he's got to play it serious, otherwise you could do Dueling Tubas, a number that I was forced to learn and perform two shows a day in Branson when our second banjo-ist took ill. Another idea is to have your friend start in on Beethoven's Fifth Sym. and you respond back with the melody lines from Dueling Banjos. You guys could could swap phrases back and forth until he finally gives in and you both wail on the love theme from Deliverance.
