I had a cap/crown on a front bottom tooth for years. It, once done, felt the same as the original tooth. I had to have that tooth pulled last week, and am waiting to have a replacement which will be a crown covering the adjacent teeth and create a dummy tooth in the middle. I'll be glad when its done so I can play again.
By the way, the cap stayed on so well that the endodonist drilled thru it to try and fix the old root canal, and my dentist then pulled the tooth, without the cap coming off. Good glue, I guess.
Anyway, based on my experience, don't be afraid of the cap.
