I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was performing my first tuba audition for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Festival on Level 1. Well, I got the results back today and I got a 28..a perfect score!!! I got extra plusses for tone quality, facility, flexibility, accuracy of notes, style, and phrasing. In the adjudicator's comments he welcomed me to the brass world and gave me some encouraging and helpful comments. I'm very excited to have taken on such a seemingly ridiculous (to most people) feat and to have succeeded so wonderfully.

I, of course, have to give credit to Dan Mordhorst (I'm sure you all remember him even though he hasn't posted in awhile) for being such a great teacher! And PS, he got a 25 on his Level 1 Flute audition, which is also a VERY excellent score! We both were very successful in our endeavors and now it's time to focus on the duet that we have to perform that's coming up...on our normal instruments though!
