You could get a million different answers to this question. If you're getting piston valves, regardless of which key the horn is in, just make certain that they're really good working valves. However, sometimes it's hard to tell, because there really is something of a break-in period to most pistons.

In the age, old BBb vs. CC question, determine what kind of playing you want to do in the future. If you're going to do a lot of orchestral and chamber music (brass quintet), you may very well want to consider CC. If you mostly want to play in concert bands, there's no shame in sticking to BBb. Many people stick to BBb regardless of what kind of playing they're doing. As many people will point to you, you may get a lot more bang for your buck with BBb's. To put that another way, you may need to spend significantly more money to get a really good CC . . . maybe not - luck sometimes plays into it. Good luck, and do your homework first. Play as many different horns as you can, too.
