I seem to recall that you guys have Yamaha sousaphones--I've seen similar results on Yamahas. The brass seems a bit thin and prone to ridges from the Dent Eraser. But I bet it would have worked a lot better on a 20K.
But those ridges will reflect light in interesting ways and may make the sousie seem shinier from a distance.
