One of the biggest "perks" with teaching at Rutgers is the close proximity to Dillon Music. Matt Walters called me and told me about a new shipment of Meinl Westons and Mirafones, so I stopped in on my way to work this morning.
Meinl Westons: The BEST 2000 I've ever played! It's one of those "I had better walk away now or I'll have a lot of explaining to do when I get home" type of instrument. Absolutely amazing.; 46SLZ 6-valve F - wonderful singing sound (but needs a longer 5th valve slide - which Matt will take care of.; Fafner - fantastic instrument, beautiful sound; and a few more Bbs - all impressive.
Mirafone: 188s - 2 killer 188's, now with a less wide bell garland and new ingraving on bell. LOTS of R&D on all of the Mirafones in general - valves move in same direction, GREAT fast valves, slides move, etc...; 187 - first I've played and sounds great, 186 Bbs - wonderful instruments........
