:If you want to be a valve artist on trombone, then take a Bb-Gb-F-D model. that will basically allow you to stay within the length of the 4 first positions for all notes but for the hardest one: low B natural, which call for both valves + something similar to a fifth.

So that would be one with four valves on it? Operated how? You see I really am in the dark with these. But the staying in the 4 first positions sounds pretty good. I like my 5-valve Miraphone CC because I can play a lot of the range without any complicated fingerings at all, one valve per note, with 5 = 23. I use the thumb valve a lot on my F tuba in a range where most don't, because the fingerings correspond to what I would use for the same notes on my double horn, and it confuses the brain less.

We have an elderly but still competent bass bone in the brass band, who has a padded stand for his left elbow, allowing him to continue to play. I suppose I could use something similar, if I got a tank of a bone.
