I was just talking to a colleague about my MW46 F tuba and why did I choose that horn. I told him that I liked the sound and fit my playing situation, and it is a great tuba to learn F on. He said his teacher in college, many years ago, that your bass tuba should be relative to the size of your contrabass tuba, i.e. MW2165 + MW45SLP or in his day Miraphone 186 + 180. I told him that it's an interesting concept, but not practical. You get the horn or horns that fit you and your playing situation, not how large or small each tuba is. Thoughts?
