I sold my Holton BBb recording bass, which was probably a 6/4 size, about 15 years ago for a paltry sum, basically because at the age of 47, I was finding it a bit of a chore to carry it around at a total of 80 lb. in its cases (one with wheels on it). With cars so small these days, I might now have trouble transporting it as well. I wish I had it back now! Although it took alot of wind, it had a beautiful sound! I'll probably never have another horn like it. It might have been a good idea to make the sacrifice and keep it. One has to weigh these factors in making a decision. I used the horn for about 10 years in a couple of wind ensembles AND a brass quintet. There was never a complaint about it overwhelming the other players in the quintet. In fact, they were disappointed when I went to a smaller horn. My experience for what it's worth.
