When living in South America back in the eighties, I was accepted by tape to audition for Pershing's Own. I was told that it was practice to fly auditionees at Army expense, on Army planes, to Washington, and if I could get myself to Panama (the closest Army airfield to my home), the Army would get me the rest of the way. Turned out I couldn't get off from work, so I didn't go. I always wondered if I would have been in put in the cold, noisy hold of a C-5 like a paratrooper and given a few cans of C rations!
