The thing that most, if not all, young players don't realize is that playing tuba is easy, if you let it be. Just don't think and don't add pressure that you don't use in the low register. Just practice scale lines up into the regiseters that are giving you trouble and only think about this:
1)Take a quick deep breath and don't hold it. Just breath quick, deep, and start your notes.
2)Don't ever stop your air for anything(or keep you air constant)3)Don't think about where you are on the horn and just keep playing. Chances are you are adding a lot of body tension while you're playing (especially up high) and this restricts your airflow.
4)No matter what, keep that throaght open. Closing it has the same effect as tensing your body and when it is mixed with that extra tension, your airflow is amazingly weak.
