This job is for the Ceremonial Brass of the Air Force Band. As the name says, they play mainly for ceremonies in and around Washington DC. This group, most of the time, plays outside either standing or marching. They are looking for a excellent player who knows how to march. (And you thought High School/ College marching band was a waste of time!) Most of the ceremonies the "Brass" perform on, are done by memory, so they want to know if you can memorize, hence the memory tune. This is mainly a sousaphone gig however , there are gigs that are sit down inwhich they play concert tubas.
What I would suggest, is that the auditionee shows NO weaknesses in every aspect of the audition. (playing/marching) If you can't do one thing good, then work on it!!! Because on audition day there will be at least five guys who can do both.

So the question is:
Which one are you going to be?
