$300 per sounds pretty good for a wedding. My quintet's average for weddings is more like $175. But one time an organist/choir director for whom we were regulars recommended us for a wedding where the family, prominent in cosmetics, members of one of New York's most venerable and historic houses of worship, and VERY rich, had wanted one of the "name" groups which was unavailable. He told me, "Ask them for a LOT of money, they can afford it!" I did, and our fee was considerably more than $300 per. There are no horror stories to ruin it. They were nice folks. The check was ready, and the reception was as well catered as you could imagine.
What's the point? Don't turn down work unless you KNOW ahead it's going to be a really major drag.
