What about Otis the drunk??!! How can ya'll furget 'bout him? It is a little known fact that Otis was the principal violinist with the Boston Symphony who met Andy and Don Knotts while they were doing a trio (with piano of course) version of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" (in hopes of having a good tobacco crop that year). Well, the three hit it off beautifully and were pretty much inseperable. Andy asked Otis to be on the show and he showed up drunker than an Arthur Fiedler before a Christmas special so they had to stick him in the cell so he wouldn't ruin the big scene in show #17 (the one where Aunt Bee snickers and say's "Oh, now Andy!") To make a long story even longer, Otis was a "natural" for the drunk spot on the show and the rest is tuba-lore history.

As my good buddy would say....

Good Tuba!
