Hands down best rendition I have ever heard was a live NYPO broadcast from the early 80's. Warren Deck was absolutley astounding, probably the best playing I have ever heard him do. With all apologies to Mr. Jacob's, there wasn't a soul on earth who could have played the piece at that given moment in time any better than Mr. Deck. If it had been recorded, no one would be talking about the CSO recording. BTW, it is my favorite extant recording of the piece, so I am not clueless. Deck played the Geib Conn on this show.
