Wycliffe Gordon is just amazing; I'd heard him with the Lincoln Center
Jazz Orchesta a while back, and was looking forward to hearing him
again at NABBA. His solo was great, but he really shone in the "Getting
Sentimental" quartet!. It's the first time I've ever heard
Alain Trudel, so I don't have any good frame of reference, but I
was underwhelmed with his performance; he had a pretty thin sound that
night, I thought. Tim Morrison's sound was just pretty beyond words,
and left me breathless and wondering if he's even aware that there's
such a thing as being out of tune. Just incredible pitch.

I played baritone with the Atlantic Brass Band (Championship
section), and my wife played cornet. Participate in? You bet.
Win? Not even close. :-) But it was great fun, and an opportunity
to hear a lot of really fine music.
