I couldn't agree with you more about how fun this piece is to play. I'm really fond of the LSO recording with Vladimir conducting. Great playing and a really good chorus.
Though, I've never played the piece, I've always wanted to perform the Prokofiev's concert scenario "Ivan the Terrible ". How many other pieces have a tuba duet? The scoring is very similar to Nevsky and, I would imagine, just as much or even more fun to play!
