Hi Folks,
Having been "studying" your great forum since a couple of months, I found, there might be a gap of tuba supply from Germany to the U.S. for those, who want to get a top German brand instrument in a very good condition at an affordable price. You have the well known dealers for factory new horns, and on the other side there are the auctions, but how about finding well cared 2nd-hand tubas in Germany, taking advantage of the favorable $ : EURO exchange rate?
I am living near Cologne, having my own small tuba/sousa collection (so, I am coming mainly from the hobby background), but simultaneously I am in the automotive and boats accessories import/export business (including U.S. connections). As you can see, all necessary conditions are met in order to offer some investigation and eventually shipping activities according to your wishes. I would be willing to find on the German 2nd-hand market what you are looking for, could have checked the horn by a brass handcraft specialist on request, negotiate in your name and pack and ship the tuba on the most favorable way. Best references available. I would be asking a 10% commission on the sales price only.
As yet, it's just a raw idea. I just want to find out, if there is any feed back from your side. I often see ads in the German press and found by some following visits, that you can get instruments in sometimes mint condition - only having been used for a short time at half or a third of the price of a new one.

Would be great to hear your comments!
