Thanks bunches! As I read your post I began to recall the details. I guess I was wrong about it being a Miraphone. That must have been what the girl I was chasing at the conference had. I remember Mr. Self now that you mention him. I wasn't so much interested in getting a horn of that type. I just always wondered what became of that horn and the evetual outcome of all the work that was done. That was such a wonderful conference. It was my first exposure to the larger world of tuba players. Later that year I went to Texas Tuba Day at Sam Houston State University and then my first TubaChristmas here in Houston. I haven't missed one since. Thanks again for the info.
