You are correct, I am refering to the 60's recordings. These were the recordings that I listened to when I was a young tuba player. I still hold these recordings in high esteem for musical preformances.
I agree with your statement about Warren Deck.
On a related topic, one of the most impressive recordings I have ever heard was the Mahler 6 - Bernstein - Vienna (in that cycle).
