The other difference to consider is the valve configuration. The Weril has 4 valves in line, while the Besson has 3 plus 1 on the side. The latter configuration is what you will find on the vast majority of professional quality horns, and should you choose to upgrade in the future it would be good to be comfortable with this. If you don't plan to "go pro" on euphonium, then either horn should last your lifetime.

There is a benefit to buying from a local retailer, in both convenience and availability of service after the sale, but you really should compare prices at various stores before buying from one. Most dealers will be willing to move on their prices if you have documentation showing that someone else is significantly less. Also, don't buy a horn just because that is all that your local dealer carries. You owe it to yourself to check out all your options before spending this kind of money.

The fact that your teacher is so adamant about your buying from this store raises some questions in my mind about his impartiality (see Joe's comments on the Work vs. Talent thread). Ask yourself "what's in it for him?" There are plenty of good, honest dealers available, including many discussed on the board.
