I use this from time to time. I was introduced to it by a teacher of mine. Basically, it allows you to buzz your mouthpiece while holding your instrument in correct position and practicing valve combinations. I don't know if it is any better than buzzing the mouthpiece, but if you are a practicing buzzer, it is useful.
