Tom, you're right about the fact that people are not taking you seriously when you play more than one instrument. When I moved here for example, I sat in with a jazz quartet and started getting calls right away. Then it took me a whole year before I finally got a chance to play tuba on a dixie gig (of all things). There was fear in the eyes of the piano player untill I played the first note. They just did not beleive me that I was in fact a tuba player first. Then getting into the orchestra was an other story since I was a "jazz" player and played trombone in a latin band. I'm now at my third season with them. I have a load of instruments but they all paid for themself...
