Karl Wolkwein Music Store in Pittsburgh supplied Adolf Hitler with sets of such instruments. They were used in Hitler's bicycle band. The Dutch also had bicycle bands. I first saw the instruments in Berlin before the war. After the war I went to Wolkwein's music store on Liberty Ave in Pittsburgh, PA where I noticed many of them hanging on the wall. Baritones and french horns and F tubas were included. I asked Karl W, Jr. how they had gotten those instruments out of Germany after the war. He sent me to Karl, Sr's office where I was shown an order for several sets of instruments explaining that nowhere in Germany could such instruments be manufactured and could they be made in America. It was signed by Adolf Hitler! Wolkwein had them made in USA. I wish I had asked him were they were made.
