I've been playing in the same quintet since 1983 (!) and have played both a CC Bell model MW (1983-1993) and a Besson 981 EEb (1993-present). From my perspective and that of the group, everything about the EEb is better - agility, pitch, sound quality, and especially balance. I've not used a CC in quintet since I made the change. Please understand that the Besson is a large EEb, and is very capable in the low register. I've never had a problem making "enough" sound for the quintet with this instrument.
