Yes, vibrations per second, or pulses per second, all summed up by the term "hertz".
I guess I'm only good at ranting and raving, so maybe someone with actual knowledge
on the subject could explain the history of A = 440. I know that it has only been
that way for a realatively short period of time. As in, since last century or so.
