Steve Bryant usually doesn't teach outside his UT studio, but he does make exceptions for the specially gifted. At least, that was his rule about 20 years ago when I enquired.

Lee Hipp in San Antonio is a wonderful teacher and well worth the 90-mile drive for the lessons, if he is available. Tell him I said hi.

You might also ask around to see if Rick Colvin still lives in Austin and is active. I haven't heard of him in about 15 years, but he was the driving force behind the development of Sumner Erickson, and sort of a cult figure among the local brass players.

There's also that fellow at Southwest Texas State--Raul Rodriguez?--who would be easier to get to than Lee and maybe a bit more available. SWTSU is a teaching-oriented school that has always had capable music teachers.
