I use a DEG stand when I play. I also use a BAT so it helps to balance. That would probably help your problem, or frustrate it further. Since some people swear by stands and others hate them I'd recommend borrowing one long enough to feel better, or worse, before buying one. They can be a bit pricy. On a side note I recommend the bigger and slightly more expensive model over the DEG, the little one has fallen apart rather quickly. Hope this helps.
