The only tuba I ever saw Dave use was a Conn 3J. I think that may be the only horn he ever used. Too bad my tape collection was "lost" in a military move. I had some bootleg recordings of a band in Orland called "Rich Shimaria and the Clean Machine". It was an ultra-progressive big band that had 3Trumpets, 2 Bones, Tuba and Reeds as it's horn section. Rich wrote killer charts. Dave played tuba and a an old friend of mine, Joe Barati, was the bassbone player. Talk about a killer sound.
