If you do not feel connected to God when you listen to the Bminor Mass, you have no soul. The beauty of Bach's music is not the obvious emotional content of the music but the inherent qualities in the music that bring out OUR emotions. I am in rapture when I hear the first 4 bars of the Kyrie. It is a profound statement of the power and majesty of man's attempts to understand a higher plane. Bach's emotional majesty is not in the notes, but what the notes speak to US. Think about it.
