$500 for five services (includes one night rehearsal) for a professional gig at a massive (no pun intended) Catholic cathedral. My parents run a classical and jazz music booking agency and this is pretty standard for professional rates. Once you add the two hour rehearsal to the night mass and the three morning services then factor in transportation, it works out to roughly $500. Then again, I also once did a gig that was hired privately and non-professionally that paid dirt ($75) for a rehearsal and two morning services. That was when I was young and naive, though. Now that I'm older and (possibly more) naive, I know that underselling myself directly to a client is much more risky to both parties as well as damaging to established booking agencies.
