The only large intonation concern is the B and C in the staff which are typically about thirty cents high. However, once the musician becomes used to playing these notes where they actually need to be, the intonation is hardly a concern. Other intonation factors: G and F# in the staff are often flat, but are easily corrected with the first valve slide; E is usually quite flat, but is less noticeable than the B and C and is easily corrected. The lower register usually has excellent intonation and a wonderfully open sound. If there are any lower register problems, they can usually be fixed by a 6th valve combination. I would recommend, for ease of playing, to get this horn from WW&BW with the 5th valve on the right thumb so that the left hand can spend most of the time on the 1st slide.
