I am going to say this, and hopefully no one will be offended. Just so you know, I truly loathe marching band with all of my life, but with my degree program I have to take it for three semesters. With this said, I sometimes get the same problem during marching season. It usually, at least to me, results from the lack of water in my system. Around that time of year I start drinking about 8-10 glasses of water a day, and that usually helps things out, and gets rid of stickiness. Also, like someone else said, although it seems obvious, just make sure your mouthpiece is really clean, and no gunk around the rim.
