I once saw a very old (ancient?) Mirafone 186 that a friend of mine was overhauling. This tuba did not have the bell ring either and it was too old by a long shot to be a "S" model. So, I am not sure that all Mirafone tubas were manufactured with the bell ring.
Also, I agree with Joe S. that attaching a bell ring would be a horrid job (although, having done some bell ring work myself, I think that horrid is most likely a very mild word for attaching a bell ring).
