I don't care what the horn is as long as it's played well and with enthusiasm. If people (other tubists) can't get past the fact that you're using different equipment, they're not even paying attention to your music.

I play BBb as an all-around tuba, and haven't had the need to add anything else, at least not yet. I might get an Eb or F to do solos (V. Williams, anyone?), but I'll be using my 3302 BBb for my senior recital this fall and everything else I end up doing at this school.

If you & your comrades like what you're doing, count it as good. Not everyone even gets to that point, honestly.

multi-year senior trying for a bachelor's (I'm only 28!), several years in quintets, bands, etc. both in & out of school, former corps marcher & staff member, can't improv worth a darn (no, I won't let anyone hear the tapes! :-) ).
