Some time ago, I sold an older Meinl Weston CC 4-valve tuba (Wm Bell model) for $3500. I found the horn to be rather dark and heavy-bodied in its tone color. It was a great orchestral tuba, and was adequate for almost everything. I used a PT 50 mouthpiece, so maybe a similar mouthpiece will calm the brightness of your horn's tone. Good luck.
