Hey friends, have a look at this nifty old Eb that is for sale. It is a Couturier. Couturier made brass instruments in Indiana, and may have been one of the very first to heavily emphasize the "open wrap" concept (to a fault). He would construct his instruments with open curves everywhere, even if it mean't that no tuning slides for the valves could be inserted (as is the case on this Eb). I came across an old Couturier cornet with these "open wrap" features several years ago and sold it to that fantastic wind instrument museum in Pine Bluff (of all places!), Arkansas. If someone actually wants to own this one, it looks like it may go for a reasonable price. I have not inserted website shortcuts on tubenet postings before, so I may very well screw up and do it wrong. If so, I will ask Mr. Chisham to tell me how to fix it, or maybe one of you might tell me what I did wrong, if need be.
