the Conn 12 J is a three valved, full sized but a little on the small side, tuba and the 5J is a four valved version of the same horn more or less. I assume you meant the 5J and not 15J. I am not familiar with a 15J. They are good sturdy horns, excellent for school use. They have lots of strong bracing and fairly heavy brass which makes them very durable and a good value for the money. They are a smaller bore size so they are easy to fill and give a good solid tone. We have two of them at my high school, and are good for most high school students. They are not the most sophisticated horns on the market however, so if you have someone who is really advanced and works alot you may want to look for something else a little more up market. ken k
