I recently played Mvmt. 2 of Williams' "Concerto for Bass Tuba" at my high school solo and ensemble contest. Today my band director asked me to play it at our spring concert in a month. I received 39 out of 40 points at the solo/ensemble contest, but was wondering if anyone had some general suggestions and/or tips on things that generally need working on. I am not asking for an online lesson, but anything that you notice is frequently played incorrectly or could be interpreted differently. I have a recording of Mr. Jacobs performing the piece with the CSO and have listened to it quite frequently. But my director's concentration is in woodwinds and I would like some tubist's advice. I figured this would be a good place to get it. Thanks!
