Find any old Marzan BBb. In my opinion these are some of the most versitile BBb's one could ever use in an orchestra. I know a guy who got Connie Weldon's (sp? former tuba teacher at UM) Marzan with a detachable bell and fifth valve. It sounds like a CC, it even looks like a CC. James Jenkins plays on one for the JaxSO (FL) and sounds great. I even know of one that a friend of mine found in an antique store for $250. It looked like hell but played like heaven he fixing it up and may sell it soon (if he does, he'll probably sell it at Dillons. However much you can get a BBb to sound like a CC, it will still have BBb pitch tendencies (good and bad).
Rambilng on,
