I agree, but the "nut" aspect to the proposition allows for easier removal if the cap is stuck. A multifaceted brass stock along with the process you suggest would be the best compromise. I myself would be interested in these items if the became readily available. Is it any harder to make hem for MW horns? Now that I think of it, couldn't someone just get brass stock in various diameters, recess both the casing and bearing spaces, and then tap the threads directly into the stock, giving a one piece cap? Hey, somebody could make money off of this!
